John Watson serves as Executive Vice President of Industry Relations and Business Development at IAPMO, where he plays a central role in advancing the organization’s mission to support a better built environment. He helps connect manufacturers and innovators with IAPMO’s global testing, inspection, and certification capabilities, working closely with industry partners and regulators to ensure companies have the expertise and support needed to bring new products and emerging technologies to market. John has more than three decades of leadership experience in product development, compliance, and technical services. Before joining IAPMO in 2022, he held senior roles with leading plumbing manufacturers, including Elkay Manufacturing, Sloan Valve Company, and Chicago Faucets. His work has focused on helping companies navigate evolving standards, improve water efficiency, and deliver products that meet both industry and consumer needs. A graduate of Elmhurst College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management, and holder of an Associate of Applied Science in Design Engineering from Triton College, John combines technical understanding with business acumen to foster collaboration across the plumbing industry. Known for his approachable leadership style and lifelong dedication to innovation and public service, he continues to build strong partnerships and champion safe, sustainable plumbing worldwide.
